Kenya/Ethiopia/Uganda: UNHCR tenders for solar PV plants

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has launched prequalification for a tender to develop small solar PV systems to power its operations across three countries. Contractors will finance, build and operate plants at up to ten UNHCR sites in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. The plants will have individual capacity of 60-500kW and combined capacity of up to 1.8MW. They will either include battery storage or operate alongside existing diesel gensets. Expression of interests are due by 30 November. A request for proposals is scheduled to begin in early 2021 and further tenders are expected in future.
