Sun-Connect East Africa News starts strategic partnership with GIZ Uganda

Sun-Connect East Africa News (SC EA) is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with GIZ in Uganda (GIZ). Target is increased awareness for the potential of mini-grids in the drive for rural electrification in Uganda. SC EA will publish articles, tenders, trainings, data and other information about the mini-grid sector in East Africa. The target audience is the off-grid solar market of East Africa, including local and international companies as well as public institutions.

The strategic partnership is part of GIZ’s work for the “Pro Mini-Grids” initiative, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) und the German Climate Technology Initiative (DKTI), and co-funded by the European Union. The project works in cooperation with the Ugandan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development and the Ugandan Rural Electrification Agency. In this cooperation, GIZ supports government policy and strategy revision, technical planning and implementation of solar powered mini-grids in the North and South of the country, community empowerment and productive use of electricity, as well as industry training for technicians and solar business. This is the first bundled tender of mini-grid projects in Uganda, whereby the private sector is engaged for co-investment, installation and operation. Read more here.
