The Kampala-based solar systems provider Anuel Energy has secured an equity investment from Stiftung Solarenergie. Sendea gGmbH (Sendea), a German based off-grid company.
ANUEL ENERGY was founded by Frank Neil Yiga – C.E.O, Pamela Rosemary Akun and Emmanuel Bukenya in 2014. The goal of Anuel Energy is to impact 1million Ugandans by 2020. In the process, the company hopes to become the No.1 partner of choice for off-grid installations in the Household | Commercial | Institutional Solar segments in Uganda. ‘’Considering that 95% of new enterprises in Uganda collapse before their 2nd anniversary, securing equity investment from a German company is a stupendous feat. Sendea is a unique program of Stiftung Solarenergie to support solar entrepreneurs in developing countries. “Small and medium enterprises are a fundamental part of the economy in developing countries, and they play a crucial role in furthering growth, innovation and prosperity. We are working as a network with fellows in Africa and Asia”, explains Harald Schützeichel, CEO of Sendea. Sendea enables solar entrepreneurs to build their solar company and to create sustainable jobs.
The investment is part of Sendea’s program to establish independent solar companies in developing countries. Sendea already collaborates with Anuel Energy since 2015, in particular in the areas of business and product strategy. With this investment, Anuel Energy plans to enter the PAYG business and relies on the manufacturerindependent payment system SunControl. Together with the investment, Harald Schützeichel, CEO of Sendea, was included in the Board of Anuel Energy.
