“); background-size: 1px 1px; background-position: 0px calc(1em + 1px);”>Micro-Grid Academy (MGA) students now have an e-learning platform to use thanks to the agreement between ARE Members, RES4Med&Africa and LEDsafari.
The Micro-Grid Academy is a regional capacity building platform that provides theoretical and practical training on access to energy and decentralized renewable energy solutions to young East-Africans and international technicians, entrepreneurs and engineers. Launched at the beginning of 2018 by RES4Med&Africa in collaboration with AVSI Foundation, KPLC, Strathmore University and St. Kizito VTI, it has contributed to train around 150 participants in four sessions in its first year.
This is very exciting for LEDsafari and MGA Academy as we are bringing our forces together to provide a quality, easy and accessible way to create capacity building in Africa. This is just a start.”- Govinda Upadhyay, CEO LEDsafari Switzerland.
LEDsafari has developed an online training platform for energy companie, assisting them in converting their training material into digital content. LEDsafari’s online platform “HelioLearn” comes with special features, which allow companies to add students, assign them a lesson and track their progress. Companies can use readily available lessons as well as upload their own.
Participants of previous Micro-Grid Academy sessions now have free access to the platform, which they can use to follow entry-level courses before attending MGA modules and to deepen their knowledge after attending MGA trainings. Access to the e-learning platform is available for 200 MGA students for the moment, with more to come.
LEDsafari will be also launching an offline app to facilitate learning in low internet penetration areas. HelioLearn platform was launched in the late 2018 and there are more than 100 organizations using the platform all over the world.
LEDsafari is determined to bring quality training to energy sectors in developing countries. We not only help companies to create a step-by-step digital training process but also help them with the best practices to conduct the training. Human resources is an essential component for any kind of development and we need to bring innovative solutions to accelerate this”- Govinda.
As mentioned in a previous article (“); background-size: 1px 1px; background-position: 0px calc(1em + 1px);”>EmPowering Education: Why online training might be the answer if solar off-grid is the question), HelioLearn platform will support the learning process and decrease the time of in-person training, thus reducing the costs for the solar companies. Most importantly, this can give the chance to people in remote areas, with scarce mobility options due to the impossibility to leave farms, fields and families, to access such information. Also, refugees camps constitute a further setting that bears the same critical combination of no energy access and low mobility options.
LEDsafari will be targeting 200 companies working in off-grid areas, this year, which will impact 10,000 solar professionals.
