We are excited to announce that the 2019 Global LEAP Awards Off-Grid Refrigerator Competition will feature a UK aid-funded £100,000 prize purse. The prize money will be awarded to companies with Winning or Finalist refrigerators based on innovations in affordability. 
Don’t forget that the nomination window for the 2019 Global LEAP Awards closes on Friday, 18 January 2019. This year’s competitions will test, identify, and promote the best off-grid refrigerators and solar water pumps. Nominations are free and multiple entries are supported. Please encourage any suppliers of solar water pumps or off-grid refrigerators that you may be working with to nominate their products before the deadline:

Benefits 

• Refrigerator competition Winners and Finalists will be considered for a UK-aid funded £100,000 innovation prize focused on affordability. Prize money will be awarded for innovations that enable reductions in 1) unit cost and 2) end-user price.
• Winners and Finalists will participate in a global promotional campaign, including opportunities to interface with distributers and investors in key markets.
• Winners and Finalists will have the opportunity to find potential investors through the newly-formed Efficiency for Access Coalition Investor Network. Convened by Acumen, the network includes Shell Foundation and 18 other leading investment organizations.

How the Awards Work

The Global LEAP Awards is an international competition to identify and promote the world’s best off-grid appliances, accelerating market development and innovation. This unique program has evolved into a trusted global brand that serves as the de facto source of accurate, actionable information about the quality and energy performance of off-grid appliances.

Eligible appliances nominated for the Global LEAP Awards will be evaluated on their affordability, quality and durability, off-grid design, truth-in-advertising, and energy performance. Products will be tested in accredited test laboratories according to internationally-accepted test methods, and winners will be identified by a panel of expert judges. The products recognized by the Global LEAP Awards offer a strong balance of price, energy efficiency, performance, and reliability.
