The first Energy Camp East Africa is currently taking place: five selected energy startups are receiving coaching from subject matter experts. A workshop will be held in Kampala from 27-29 September to refine the business models. At the final Startup|Energy Award, the startups present themselves to a jury of international investors and experts. The best start-up concepts are awarded with attractive prizes.
One of these prizes will be sponsored by the OFF-GRID Expo+Conference, the international hotspot for international off-grid community in Augsburg/Germany: the winner will receive a free digital package as an exhibitor at the fair in December, 2-3, 2021. In addition, all participating African start-ups will receive free access to the virtual conference and trade fair.
Startup|Energy is a joint initiative of the University of Freiburg and the Stiftung Solarenergie (Solar Energy Foundation, Freiburg) to promote regional and international exchange between start-ups in the field of decentralised, renewable energy supply in D-A-CH and East Africa.
The initiative is supported by GIZ and GET.invest, a European programme supported by the European Union, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Austria.
