MPower Ventures, a pan-African fintech and impact start-up (www.mpower.africa), is looking for an independent and entrepreneurial professional to join our team. This global role supports our Management Team and local teams in Sub-Saharan Africa and offers an exciting opportunity in a fascinating and rapidly growing field within a start-up environment. The role will work closely and hand in hand with the CEO.
MPower is building a platform to supply and finance small-scale decentralized solar infrastructure in emerging markets through a B2B2C partnership model. Our solar products come with software and financing solutions that allow customers to pay in monthly installments. This position is a unique opportunity with high impact. Role Overview:
Either you are based in Yaounde, Lusaka, Accra, Zurich or in another location and willing to work remotely with occasional travel to Zurich; your main scope of intervention will include:
- Collaborate with executives on decision-making and initiatives.
- Assist the CEO with fundraising and investor relations.
- Manage strategic business initiatives from development to completion.
- Enhance organizational structure and processes for efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison with staff, executives, senior leaders, and CEO regarding company climate, employee well-being, project updates, proposals, and planning.
- Develop and build relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and responsiveness of existing operations.
- Manage board and investor relations: Prepare materials for board meetings and investor presentations. Coordinate communications and follow-up actions with board members and investors.
- Support fundraising efforts: Work with the CEO to prepare for fundraising rounds, including creating and editing pitch decks, financial projections, and engaging with potential investors.
- Handle executive-level administrative tasks, such as preparing materials for meetings, coordinating schedules, and managing follow-up actions with key stakeholders.
- Manage strategic projects: Head up projects that require a high level of confidentiality.
- Form strategic partnerships: Negotiate partnership agreements and set up collaboration frameworks.
Qualification and Requirements:
- Master’s/MBA in Business Administration, Finance, Grant Management, International Relations, or similar field with a minimum of three years experience in Business Management, Data Analysis and Budget Management;
- Excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Skilled in organizing and directing teams, with a strong focus on efficiency.
- Independent, entrepreneurial mindset, Financial acumen, strong problem-solving skills, thriving in dynamic environments.
- Passionate about impact and sustainability, especially in renewable energy and fintech.
